Wordless Wednesday | Rubber Duckie

Wordless Wednesday is supposed to be about posting a photo(s) without any words. But, I'm a rule breaker, so here are a few words:

1 - I made Scott take a picture of this rubber duckie. I thought it was cute, but I think he might have rolled his eyes at me while taking the photo.

2 - Remember when Ernie from Sesame Street sang about bath time and his rubber duckie?

3 - I love taking bubble baths. But living on a sailboat means that they're few and far between these days. Heck, we don't even have a shower on our boat, let alone a bathtub.

What words does this picture(s) bring to your mind when you look at it?

  1. No shower? Really?

I wonder why the duckie is pink?

    1. That was my first thought - why isn't he yellow?

There is a shower in the bathroom (you pull out a faucet from the sink), but the water pump is disconnected so it isn't usable.

  2. So cute! Was it just randomly in the street?
Do you have a transom shower?

    1. We either bathe in salt water, followed by a fresh water rinse, use a solar shower in the cockpit or the old fashioned sponge bath method. We might change our approach if we get a watermaker and don't have to worry about how much water we use.

  3. Reminds me of bath time as a kid. Most of us had a rubber ducky that would float in the tub.

We have a shower on our boat, but it's not the easiest or the best shower, but it does the job.

Have a fabulous Wordless and Wordy Wednesday. ☺

    1. Boat showers aren't often great unless you have the space for a dedicated one. The one we have (which isn't functional) is in the head (not separate) which means you water would get everywhere (over the toilet, sink etc) and encourage mold, mildew etc. Because we cruise where it's warm, it's not a problem to shower in the cockpit.

  5. Fairbanks, AK has a rubber duckie race in July. You buy a numbered duck, and then they throw thousands of them in the Chena River. Whichever one makes it to the finish line first wins, and the owner of that duck gets a cash prize. I never bought one when I lived there.....

  7. Cute pink duck! I don't think I'd be suited to boat life. I love my shower - we have the luxury of a bath too, but I can't remember when either of us last used it.

  8. Rubber duckie, you're the one. You make bath time lots of fun. Rubber duckie, I'm awfully fond of you...

    Yeah, I loved that song.

  9. I definitely hear that song in my head! :) I also think of the rubber duckie games at school/Sunday school fairs where the kids get a prize for netting a duck.

  10. I have two rubber duckies that I keep from when the grand babies sleep over. It seems to be everyone's bath toy favorite

  12. Amazingly, I can still sing that entire song, start to finish. The middle-aged brain is a frightening place sometimes!

  13. Not only do I remember that song, as soon as I saw the title of your post, it started playing in my head.(Our daughter was a huge Sesame Street and Muppets fan as a kid, Heck, she's 40 now, and she's STILL a fan...)

I know why your duck is pink. He's embarrassed. He took his lady friend out to lunch, but he forgot his wallet. (So they had to put it on his bill...)

  14. It's okay--we can't see the eye roll in the picture. :p And now I have the song stuck in my head.

  15. ...Everyday, when I make my way to the tubby,
I find little fella who's cute and yella and chubby,
    Ruba dub dubby.
    Rubber Ducky, joy of joys,
When I squeeze you, you make noise!
Rubber Ducky I'm awfully fond of....
Rubber Ducky, I want a full pond of....
    Rubber Ducky, I'm awfully fooooond
    Of you!

    Sorry, I couldn't help myself!

  16. Cute. I had the same thought as you... why isn't it yellow. Funny how we are preconditioned; yet, both of us are open-minded! :-)

We had a shower on Irie, but never used it. Too water consuming and work to clean up afterwards. Instead, we washed in the ocean and rinsed off in the cockpit with a sun shower. (Of which we always had one in reserve.) It worked really well... for eight years. We sure are enjoying our showers on land, though. :-)

    1. We do the same thing - bathe in the ocean and rinse off with our solar shower.
